Couch Comfort is proud to work with high quality furniture that’s built to last.
We believe that sourcing the best possible materials makes all the difference.
However, we also know that how you care for and clean your furniture will affect its longevity. That’s why we created this comprehensive guide for you.

FABRIC + UPHOLSTERY CARE:

Weekly Care

Flip, fluff, and rotate loose seat and back cushions at least once a week to distribute material and wear evenly.

Vacuum all fabric weekly using the upholstery attachments to pick up any loose particles and debris that could cause your upholstery to wear.

Avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight. All fabrics will fade over time.

Place furniture cups or non-skid disks underneath legs to help protect your floors and carpet.

Periodic cleaning by a professional upholstery cleaning service is highly recommended.

Long-Term Care

Take your upholstery to a professional upholstery cleaning service to maintain or if there’s a serious stain.

Pilling:

Fabric pilling is normal. Pilling can be controlled through the use of a fabric shaver; available at most fabric shops. Pilling will eventually cease over time if maintained through shaving. Shaving does not affect fabrics performance or longevity.

Fading:

All fabric will fade over time, although how fast this occurs is largely determined by the material content, color, and the amount of direct sunlight to which the piece is exposed.

For I-Clean fabrics:

Dab spills with a paper towel. Please see papers attached on your suite for further information.

THE GOLDEN RULE:

Never apply anything to your suite other than clean, warm water on a clean, soft cloth.

This means NO chemicals, household cleansers, or dish washing agents, ever.

If your couch needs to be cleaned, we suggest you contact a professional upholstery cleaner. Dirty marks can be cleaned with upholstery cleaner at your own risk.

OTHER GUIDELINES:

Wring out the excess water before using the cloth or sponge and pat the area afterwards with a dry towel.

Wipe any spills or liquids immediately; do not let them sit. In most cases, this should only require a damp cloth.

Vacuum or dust the suite as part of your regular household cleaning routine.

Don’t expose your suite to direct sunlight, and don’t place heaters close to your suite

Zips are fitted on many cushions to aid manufacture only; covers are not designed to be removed.

Even light dust and dirt will increase wear on the fabric and can dull the colours, giving a faded appearance. Regular cleaning is essential. Occasionally vacuum your upholstery and go over it with a soft brush. Never use a stiff fibre or metal brush as this will damage the fabric.

LEATHER COUCHES

General care

Vacuum regularly to prevent dust from settling into the leather.

Brush regularly with a nylon bristled brush to maintain the pile of this leather.

We recommend Cori-guard to reduce liquid spill damage. Do not wipe leathers with a damp cloth.

Avoid direct sunlight or harsh lighting. Maintain at least 1m between your furniture and heating sources as prolonged exposure will dry out your leather.

Rotate furniture in the room regularly to even out the fading from light through windows or apply UV Filters to your windows.

Place an antimacassar on head and arm rests to prevent darkening of leather from the natural body oils.

Dab spills immediately with a soft dry absorbent cloth.

Do not use harsh chemicals, Dubbin, or furniture polish on these leathers as the texture will change.

Apply the correct care kit for your leather to nourish and protect the leather. Condition the leather approximately every 6-8 months using a good quality hide food which contains softening and nourishing agents. This will prevent leather from drying out and cracking over time. We recommend Hannicare for your sofa.
