The Internal wooden frame has a limited warranty against defects in the materials and workmanship. This warranty assumes normal usage of the suite.

2 YEAR GUARANTEE: LEATHER, STITCHING AND CUSHIONING

The leather used to be 100% genuine leather and to be free from tearing and splitting under normal use.

The stitching to be free from defects in the materials and workmanship.

Leather owes its inherent beauty to variations in the grain, texture, and color tones. These natural characteristics contribute to the uniqueness of each upholstered leather product. Leather is a natural product and therefore this guarantee does not cover natural characteristics of leather such as markings caused by insect bites, barbed wire, veining abrasions, injuries to the animal, wrinkling or variations on grains or color tones on different sections of the same leather product.

CUSHIONING: The foam and fibre fillings to be free from abnormal loss of resiliency. The softening or flattening of the fibre and foam materials used in cushioning that occurs due to normal use and ageing is not covered by this guarantee and shall not be considered a defect in the materials or workmanship. This must not be confused with normal loss of resiliency as cushions typically soften with normal use and ageing and may conform to the shape of the user.

Our guarantee does not cover:

  • Usage for any commercial, contract, institutional, rental trade, or other non-household use.
  • Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, cuts and scratches, accidents, burns, fire water or other hazard, exposure to direct sunlight or bright lights or extreme heat or similar conditions resulting in discoloration, cracking, or peeling of leather coverings, after the original delivery to you, the original purchaser.
  • Any damage resulting from application to any coverings of cleaners, conditioners, treatments, or other chemical products not approved in writing by Couch Comfort or Alpine Lounge.
  • Damage caused by chemicals such as acids or solvents, dye, inks paint, body fluids and similar chemicals.
  • To products taken out of the Republic of South Africa.

PROPER CLEANING AND CARE FOR YOUR UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE MAINTAINS ITS VALUE.

Due to body heat, moisture and the physical strain applied to fabric upholstered seating, it is normal for the cover material to stretch sometimes quickly. Stretching does not represent a quality defect but are characteristics typical of upholstered furniture. There are however steps that can be taken to help maintain the appearance of your upholstery and minimize stretching.

  • Avoid sitting in the same position every time. No matter how well made, if the same spot is used constantly, this area will stretch and wear more quickly.
  • Avoid jumping on the furniture and do not throw yourself violently onto it.
  • Do not sit on the arms and/or back.
  • Do not drag the furniture over rough surfaces. If the furniture must be moved, it must still be lifted and not pushed, even when on smooth surfaces.
  • Do not pull the furniture by the arm to avoid breaking the stitching.

SPOT CLEANING:

The golden rule for removing a stain is to act quickly! Most spots will vanish if they are treated immediately, and care not allowed to dry in.

  • First, mop any excess liquid or semi-solids with white absorbent cloth tissues (colored tissue might stain fabrics).
  • Scoop up any dry solids with a spoon or the back of a knife inwards from the edge of the stain to prevent spreading.
  • Use small amounts of warm soapy water at a time and frequently blot between applications.
  • When an overall soiled condition has been reached, use a professional furniture cleaning service.

THE GOLDEN RULE:

  • NEVER apply anything to your suite other than clean, warm water on a clean, soft cloth.
  • This means NO chemicals, household cleansers, or dish washing agents, ever.
  • If your couch needs to be cleaned, we suggest you contact a professional upholstery cleaner. Dirty marks can be cleaned with upholstery cleaner at your own risk.

OTHER GUIDELINES:

  • Regular cleaning is essential.
  • Vacuum or dust the suite as part of your regular household cleaning routine.
  • Even light dust and dirt will increase wear on the fabric and can dull the colors, giving a faded appearance.
  • Occasionally vacuum your upholstery and go over it with a soft brush. Never use a stiff fiber or metal brush as this will damage the fabric.
  • Zips are fitted on many cushions to aid manufacture only; covers are not designed to be removed.
  • Wipe any spills or liquid immediately; do not let them sit. In most cases, this should only require a damp cloth.
  • Always take care to dab, NOT rub each stain delicately.
  • Clean the stain by adopting a circular movement, working from the outside towards the center.
  • Wring out excess water before using the cloth or sponge and pat the area afterwards with a dry towel.
  • Don't expose your suite to direct sunlight, and don't place heaters close to your couch.
  • Wherever possible protect it by drawing curtains or blinds.

A FEW DON’TS”

  • Do not use ammonia, bleach or other solvent based cleaners intended for hard surfaces.
  • Do not over wet the fabric and avoid pressing liquids through the fabric.
  • Do not brush the fabric, rather vacuum with a bristle free nozzle.

TO DETERMINE HOW TO CLEAN YOUR LEATHER, PLEASE CONTACT COUCH COMFORT FOR THE TYPE OF LEATHER USED ON YOUR FURNITURE.

For leather types that absorb liquids/perspiration, we recommend you use a leather protector. This product should be used before the leather is damaged as it prevents liquids from being absorbed.

  • Leather should be wiped regularly with a dry soft cloth to prevent accumulation of dust.
  • For the best results, natural leather should be dusted regularly with a soft cloth and vacuumed once a week to keep the pores free from dust particles and grime.
  • Care should be taken to ensure that the leather does not become over-wet.
  • A specialist in leather cleaning should be consulted for professional advice on stain removal.
  • Never use detergents to clean leather.
  • Dab spills immediately with a soft dry absorbent cloth.
  • Condition your leather approx. every 6-12 months using a good quality hide food which contains softening and nourishing agents.
  • We recommend: Hanitan Complete Leather Care Conditioner, which is suitable for all leather types.
